FormBuilder/AppBuilder: Actions

Description

Actions are the commands that FormBuilder and AppBuilder add to the NetBeans IDE. They appear on right-click menus in the BBjGui Inspector and the NetBeans Filesystem, and in the NetBeans Window | BBjGui Editing menu. This page lists each action and where to find it.

Resource Node Actions

These actions are available by right-clicking the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.

Action	Description	Available From
Add Window	Adds a new TopLevelWindow to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Add ChildWindow	Adds a new ChildWindow Definition to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Add Menu	Adds a new Menu Definition to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Add Popup Menu	Adds a new Popup Menu Definition to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Add ImageList	Adds a new ImageList to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Add RecordSet	Adds a new RecordSet to the Resource.	Right-click the Resource Node in the BBjGui Inspector.

Window Node Actions

These actions are available on a TopLevelWindow Node or ChildWindow Definition Node.

Action	Description	Available From	Notes
Edit Window	Displays the TopLevelWindow Node or ChildWindow Definition Node in a Form Editor.	Right-click a TopLevelWindow Node or ChildWindow Definition Node.
Print Window	Prints the selected Node.	Right-click a TopLevelWindow Node or ChildWindow Definition Node.	Only available after the Form appears in the Form Editor.
Adjust Add Order	Displays the Add Order Editor Dialog.	Right-click a ChildWindow Definition Node or TopLevelWindow Node in the BBjGui Inspector.
Adjust Control ID	Displays the Adjust Control ID Dialog.	Right-click a ChildWindow Definition Node or TopLevelWindow Node in the BBjGui Inspector.

Other Node Actions

These actions are available on individual nodes in the BBjGui Inspector.

Action	Description	Available From	Notes
Edit Menu	Brings up the Menu Editor.	Right-click a Menu Definition Node.
Edit RecordSet	Brings up the RecordSet Editor Dialog.	Right-click a RecordSet Node.
Form Gen Wizard	Brings up the Form Generator Wizard.Available in BBj 7.00 and higher.	Right-click a RecordSet Node.
Set As Default	Fills the control type default values with the values of this specific Control Node.	Right-click a Control Node.	Clear the default values for a control type by right-clicking the control type within the Palette.
Add Code Block	Adds a Code Block to a Source Node.	Right-click a Source Node.	See Add Code Block Dialog.
Display Code Editor	Displays the Code Editor Window for AppBuilder.	Right-click an Event Node or a Control Node.	Only available when editing a .gbf AppBuilder File.

Resource File Actions

These actions are available on a Resource File Node in the NetBeans Filesystem.

Action	Description	Available From	Notes
Open Resource	Starts a FormBuilder session for the FormBuilder .arc resource.	Right-click a Resource File Node in the NetBeans Filesystem.	Brings up a BBjGui Inspector for the .arc resource.
Save Resource	Saves a FormBuilder session for the FormBuilder .arc resource.	Right-click a Resource File Node in the NetBeans Filesystem.
Create GBF	Creates a new AppBuilder project file. Displays a Create GBF Dialog that allows configuration of filenames and paths relevant to the GBF file.	Right-click an .arc file node.
Specify ARC File	Configures the .arc file used by an AppBuilder project.	Right-click an .arc file node.	See Specify ARC File Dialog.

Display Actions

These actions show or hide the FormBuilder components. Each is available from the NetBeans IDE Window | BBjGui Editing menu, and by right-clicking a Resource File Node.

Close Components	Hides all components associated with FormBuilder.	Window \| BBjGui Editing \| Close Components	Also available by right-clicking the Resource File Node.

Action Details

Add Code Block Dialog

The Add Code Block action displays a dialog that allows you to name the Code Block. This name is used as the label within the generated code.

Specify ARC File Dialog

The Arc File name should be unqualified. The Development Prefix is where to search for the .arc file while building (i.e., an absolute path such as C:\src\arcs\). The NB Prefix is a relative path to the .arc file from the 'mounted' point within the NetBeans Filesystem.
