ResBuilder: Defining Form and Child Window Properties via the Properties Page (Superseded)

To define properties for forms and child windows, do the following:

1. Click the form or child window, then do one of the following:

   • On the Main toolbar, click Properties.

   • On the tree view, right-click the form or child window's icon to display the context-sensitive menu, then click Properties.

   • In the tree view, double-click the form or child window's icon.

2. The form or child window's property page, then appears.

   

   Properties pages are used to set properties for the selected item and are organized into four property types, as identified below. Each property type is described under Property Types.

   

3. In the Value column of the properties page, define the form or child window properties:

   • To define string properties, enter a text string.

   • To define integer properties, enter a numeric value.

   • To define list properties, click the list button and click the desired property.

   • To define dialog properties, click the ellipsis icon to display the appropriate Windows dialog.

4. To display help for properties page entries, click anywhere within the Value and press F1.

   Click the Form or Child Window link to display property descriptions.

Form and Child Window Dialogs

Form Flags

Flag	Description
Always on top	Always positions the window on top of other windows.
Close box	Creates a window close box.
Custom color palette	Allows use of a custom color palette.
Dialog behavior	Sets the window to behave as a dialog.
Dialog border	Creates a border around the dialog.
Disabled	Sets the form to be initially disabled.
Enter as tab	Sets the Enter key to behave as a Tab key.
Gravity	Arranges child windows to fit within the parent window.
Horizontal scroll bar	Creates a horizontal scroll bar.
Initially maximized	Sets the window to be initially maximized.
Initially minimized	Sets the window to be initially minimized.
Invisible	Sets the window to be initially invisible.
Keyboard Navigation	Activates keyboard navigation in the window.
Manage syscolor events	Sets the window to automatically manage SYSCOLOR events.
Minimizable	Allows the window to be minimized.
No menubar line	Prevents the separator line between the menu and client area of a window from being drawn.
No title bar	Creates the window without a title bar.
Sizable	Allows the window to be resized.
Vertical scroll bar	Creates a vertical scroll bar.

Child Window Flags

Flag	Description
Client edge	Draws a recessed client edge around the child window.
Disabled	Sets the child window to be initially disabled.
Enter as tab	Sets the Enter key to behave as a Tab key.
Gravity	Arranges child windows to fit within the parent window.
Horizontal scroll bar	Creates a horizontal scroll bar.
Invisible	Sets the window to be initially invisible.
Keyboard Navigation	Activates keyboard navigation in the window.
No border	Prevents a border from being drawn around the child window.
Raised Edge	Draws a raised client edge around the child window.
Vertical scroll bar	Creates a vertical scroll bar.

Form Event Mask

Set All checks all check boxes in this dialog. Clear All clears all check boxes in this dialog.
