What is the BASIS ODBC Driver?
The BASIS ODBC Driver is a tool that opens existing BASIS data files to productive Windows applications such as Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel. By providing a thin layer of connectivity between BBx data and a wide variety of Windows applications, the BASIS ODBC Driver eliminates the need to create custom import/export tools to access existing data files.
The BASIS ODBC Driver comes bundled with DDBuilder, BASIS's stand-alone graphical data dictionary utility. DDBuilder allows the creation of new dictionaries and relational views as well as allowing the editing of existing dictionaries.
The BASIS ODBC Driver comes ready to connect to the PRO/5 Data Server. Using the BASIS ODBC Driver to connect to the PRO/5 Data Server increases performance when accessing data on UNIX or Windows NT platforms.
