Using the BASIS ODBC Driver with the PRO/5 Data Server

The BASIS ODBC Driver is equipped to function as a PRO/5 Data Server client. It can use TCP/IP to communicate with a PRO/5 Data Server on a remote machine. To access data located on a remote server, do the following:

  1. Do one of the following to define the server:

  • Provide the server path in the BASIS Data Dictionary file path definition.

  • Specify the server in the DATA value in the configuration file.

  1. Install a PRO/5 Data Server on the machine designated as the remote server.

  2. Using the BASIS ODBC Driver as a client, access files on the remote server.
