Character Devices - Overview

PRO/5 allows you access to a variety of devices. These devices include terminals, printers, and plotters. Some devices may not map directly to an internal PRO/5 device. These "devices" are called system or host devices. A system device may be controlled in the same manner as a STRING file, i.e., single character or multiple character input or output is acceptable. The Installation and Configuration Guide will contain more information on handling local devices.
