Naming Conventions
All of the utilities start with the underscore "_" character. Utilities without an extension may be either RUN or CALLed to invoke the utility. All of the utilities with a .utl extension are used by other utilities. All of the utilities with a .pub extension are used by the other utilities but can also be incorporated into an application.
Messages
Two common messages are:
<CR> to continue, or <ESC> to exit . . .
When this message appears, press <CR> to continue the current utility or the Esc key to terminate the utility. If more than one file has been selected for the chosen utility, the Esc will only terminate operation of the current file.
<CR> to end
This message signifies that the utility has completed all necessary operations and is ready to terminate. This message also appears if more than one file has been selected for the utility and operator input is required. Search and Replace, for example, will display this message between programs if output is to the terminal, and either Search Only or Verify Replacements mode has been selected.
To terminate any utility, press the <Break> key and a window appears with the following message:
User interrupt
Do you wish to quit?
Answer Yes or No.
If the break was pressed by accident, press the <CR> to continue the utility. An Esc or another break will terminate the utility.
If an unexpected error occurs, a window appears with the following message:
An error ERROR NUMBER occurred in
program <PROGRAM NAME> at line LINE NUMBER.
TCB(10) is TCB(10)NUMBER
<CR> to retry or <ESC> to quit:
A <CR> will retry the line the error occurred in. An Esc will exit the utility. If the error cannot be corrected, note the program name, error number, and line number and contact Technical Support.
