Function Keys - Data Dictionary

The DD Editor uses function keys to perform common operations. Because the function keys can be remapped, this section uses the name of the function rather than the specific keystroke; for example, "To cancel the entry, press <EXIT>." The Prompt Line and Help screens name the specific key, "F2 Exit."

For a complete list of function keys, press <HELP> twice. The following is a list of basic functions and their keystrokes.

Displays one screen of contextual help information. Press <HELP> twice to display the current keyboard map.

<CANCEL>

<EXIT>

Cancels all work that has not been accepted. This key also steps backward through a series of screens to eventually exit the program.

<ACCEPT>

<EXECUTE>

F4

Accepts edited DD definitions and updates the DD database definition files.

<LIST>

<SEARCH>

F5

Displays a list of predefined values for the parameter being edited.

<HOTKEY>

F6

Displays a menu of utilities. See Hotkey Menu for more details.

<JUMP>

F8

Fields that are accessed frequently are marked with a ">" character after the label. Pressing <JUMP> skips to the next ">" character.
