Resolving ODBC Connection Problems


Possible Solution

Cannot connect to the PRO/5 Data Server

Try opening the server dictionary file, FILE.1, from PRO/5. This often eliminates the ODBC Driver from the problem and will help identify specific server problems.

Turn on the log file in the BASIS ODBC Driver data source setup dialog. Try to connect with the BASIS ODBC Driver. Then, exit from the ODBC-enabled application. Look at the log file, it should contain detailed information about connection failures that are not present in the error messages.

Floppy drive operates during a failed connect

Ensure that both the DICTIONARY and DATA are set up properly in the config.tpm file. Full path names must be used with a complete disk drive, including the drive letter or server path.
