BASIS Update Service (BUS) Utility Overview
Description
BBj 9.0 and higher introduces the BASIS Update Service (BUS) utility, a web-based application feature that automatically looks for software updates. Both developers and end users benefit from this update mechanism that doesn't require a lot of work, isn't intrusive to daily tasks, while delivering the application update features ahead of a full software release.
As a BBj CustomObject, BUS utilizes the Web Services functionality while the BASIS DBMS provides the back end of the BUS using ESQL files and their support for foreign key relationships to provide an extra level of data integrity.
